This is this year's sorghum experiment. It looks like corn when it comes up on left. At right it is 10 ft tall and the king of the garden lima beans are now using it for scaffolding, as intended. The sorghum stalks will be sqeezed in a cane juice squeezer and the juice will be fermented and run through my friend's still to make lawnmower fuel. Sorghum is 8 times more efficient of a plant to grow for ethanol production than corn, as it takes 1/2 the water and fertilizer to grow. It does well on marginal land, and the whole plant can be used, with the top grain head used as human and animal feed. As you can see, sorghum also makes a great pole for lima beans.
